After retiring from the APH and the NJ mental health system, he joined the federal civil service system where he worked as a clinical psychologist with the Indian Health Service on the Lakota Sioux Rosebud reservation in Rosebud, South Dakota and later, with the Department of Defense (DoD) in both Asia and the US. It was this work with Native Americans that led to an interest in addiction and his subsequent work with the Department of the Army (DoD), as a staff psychologist, and later as Clinical Director of the Army Substance Abuse Program at Fort Meade, MD and in South Korea (Camp Humphreys, Camp Casey). After several years of Federal Service, he retired a second time. He now works part-time as an independent private-practice contract psychologist.
